Frequently Asked & Question About 2 Days Safari in Tanzania

In a 2-day mid-range safari in Tanzania, you can commonly encounter various wildlife species such as
  • Elephants: These majestic creatures are commonly found in many national parks in Tanzania, such as Tarangire National Park and Serengeti National Park.
  • Lions: Tanzania is renowned for its lion population, and spotting them during a safari is quite likely, especially in areas like the Serengeti.
  • Leopards: While more elusive than lions, leopards can still be spotted in places like the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater.
  • Buffaloes: These massive herbivores are often seen in herds, particularly in areas with abundant grazing land.
  • Giraffes: Tanzania is home to both Masai and Reticulated giraffes, which can be spotted in various national parks.
  • Zebras: These striped equids are abundant in Tanzania's grasslands, particularly in the Serengeti.
  • Wildebeests: Along with zebras, wildebeests form a significant part of the Great Migration in the Serengeti.
  • Hippos: You can often spot hippos lounging in water bodies such as rivers and lakes, like Lake Manyara and the hippo pools in the Serengeti.
  • Cheetahs: While less common than other big cats, cheetahs can still be spotted, especially in open grasslands.
  • Various Bird Species: Tanzania is a paradise for bird watchers, with over 1,000 bird species, including flamingos, eagles, vultures, and storks.
The chances of spotting these animals depend on several factors including the time of year, weather conditions, and the specific national park visited. While it's possible to see many of these animals during a 2-day safari, sightings can vary.

Accommodation options in a mid-range safari package typically include comfortable lodges or tented camps located within or near the national parks. These accommodations usually offer amenities such as en-suite bathrooms, electricity, hot water, and dining facilities. Some lodges or camps may also provide additional amenities like swimming pools, Wi-Fi, and guided nature walks.

A 2-day safari itinerary usually includes multiple game drives, typically one in the morning and one in the afternoon of each day. The specific areas of the national parks visited during the game drives depend on the itinerary and the wildlife sightings. Common areas visited include the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire, and Lake Manyara national parks, known for their diverse wildlife populations and scenic landscapes.

The best time for a 2-day safari in Tanzania depends on your priorities. The dry season (from June to October) offers excellent wildlife sightings as animals gather around water sources, and vegetation is less dense, making animals easier to spot. However, this is also the peak tourist season, so parks can be crowded, and accommodation prices may be higher. The wet season (from November to May) offers lush landscapes, fewer crowds, and lower prices, but wildlife sightings may be more challenging due to dense vegetation and scattered water sources.
